The USC Thornton School of Music and the Spotlight program of the Music Center of the Performing Arts Center of Los Angeles County announced a new partnership to support young musicians and advance the cause of music education in Southern California. The Spotlight program, an educational branch of the Music Center, reaches out to high school students of all talent levels working in the visual and performing arts.

A bequest from the Pullias Family estate has established the newly named Earl and Pauline Pullias Center for Higher Education at the USC Rossier School of Education. The center previously was known as the Center for Higher Education Policy Analysis. The gift allows one of the world’s leading research centers on higher education to continue its tradition of focusing on research, policy and practice to improve the field.

USC President C.L. Max Nikias announced an anonymous gift of $13.3 million at a special meeting hosted by the University of Southern California Institute of Urology on February 7. The donation will fund the USC Urology Robotics Center of Excellence and the Program for Prostate Cancer Targeting. “Today the USC Institute of Urology is an internationally renowned powerhouse in robotic and open surgery. Tomorrow we look forward to being a cutting-edge comprehensive world leader in urology,” said Nikias.

Confetti shot through the air, the Spirit of Troy played the USC fight song and faculty, staff, students, alumni and university officials lifted two fingers in a victory salute on Feb. 7 as the university celebrated the newly named USC Sol Price School of Public Policy.

USC trustee Verna B. Dauterive ME ’49, EdD ’66 has committed her $30 million gift to name the first interdisciplinary social sciences building on the USC campus.
